95 East Oak Street
Oxford Baptist Church
- Founded in 1836 as Friendship United Baptist Church
- By 1841, 131 members were meeting in a log structure on West 9th Street.
- Elisha Sylvannus Simmons donated the land at 95 East Oak Street where a new church was built.
- Changed its name to First Baptist Church of Oxford in 1887.
- The original frame structure was torn down to make room for a modified Richardsonian brick building which has been renovated and expanded many times with the most recent being in 2001.
