214 Snow Street
Oxford Methodist Church
- Originally called The Oxford Methodist Episcopal Church South.
- Built around 1840 on land donated by Mr. Dudley Snow.
- The first building was made of hand-cut weather boarding with shutters, and candles were used for lighting. It housed the congregation for 30 years.
- The present building was begun in 1872 and completed in 1875 using an Normanesque architectural design typical of many of the buildings built in Oxford at the time.
- Upon completion of the building, the hymnals and literature were divided between the Methodist and Presbyterian congregations.
- The interior has been changed twice; the tower bell was manufactured by the McNeely Company and dated 1856; the pulpit is of solid walnut.
