FUN PROVES AGELESS AT PARD VALENTINE SENIOR ADULT DAY

More than 250 of the area’s senior citizens crowded the floor at the Oxford Civic Center for the annual Valentine Senior Adult Day sponsored by Oxford Parks and Recreation, held Monday, February 10, 2025.

Those eager to dance got an early start as Ryan Robertson and Alabama Rain began their warmups with some familiar chestnuts including John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and Patsy Cline’s “Crazy.”

East Alabama Now’s John Holder emceed the program which included lifestyle vendors, grab bags, snacks, dancing, prizes, and lunch.

“We thank you for what they bring to us and the vibrancy to the lives they are living,” Holder said in his opening prayer.

PARD hosts two free special senior days every year at the Civic Center, one on Valentine’s Day and the other in September after Labor Day, as well as several other senior events each year.

The city of Oxford provides senior citizens with a host of activities, with many already involved with those at the Oxford Senior Citizens Center, located at 424 Main Street. The center is open from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on weekdays and can be reached by calling 256-831-5900.
