Members of the Emmy-Award winning Alabama Public Television production staff gave a masterclass in television production to members of the Oxford High School Jacket Media program, led by instructor Candace Finley, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
The class included pre-production planning for filming projects surrounding the upcoming Rubato International Piano Competition at the Oxford Performing Arts Center to be held August 12-16.
Students will have the opportunity to take ownership of producing a final program to air on Alabama Public Television, which will be made available to PBS stations across the country. APT will be on-site for the production to provide direction as needed.
The Oxford City Council and Oxford Board of Education recently voted to finance the Jacket Media students’ participation in the Alabama Skills USA conference/competition to further the students’ career technical learning in television production and provide all the support possible for this unique opportunity.
