Oxford Access: The Magazine That Tells Our Story

Anyone researching the history of Oxford over the last decade must look no further than past issues of Oxford Access.

Begun in the spring of 2016, Oxford Access magazine has been produced and published quarterly by the Oxford Marketing and Public Relations Department. The magazine is distributed to residents of Oxford and is available at the library and community centers.

“This magazine will give you access to Oxford like you have never had before and will keep residents and visitors in the loop on what is happening in Oxford,” wrote the late Mayor Leon Smith in the inaugural issue.

Oxford Access has stayed true to that mission by providing reports on city government activities, historic moments, continuing traditions, and profiles of residents and businesses with unique and special stories to tell—all accompanied by professional, colorful photographs celebrating the people and events that make Oxford so special.

The Marketing and Public Relations team has also expanded with the information age, now producing daily and numerous posts on social media giving information of current and upcoming events along with a recently redesigned city website, providing easier access to important city government departments and information along with a closer look at the current happenings around Oxford. Digital editions of Oxford Access are also available on that website.

Oxford Access has become our city’s yearbook,” said Mayor Alton Craft.

“Thumbing through each edition brings to mind how far our city has come and recalls those special moments and people that have meant so much to our city through the years. This is one of those ‘extras’ our city council members and I believe our citizens deserve and know they enjoy.”

Oxford Access is another reason Oxford is Alabama at its best!
